Power of Forgiveness

A long time back in the month of February, God met me with His audible voice. I've heard that voice three times, but this was the day I consider my salvation day.

Though I had known the Lord for years, I did not have real breakthrough. I had asked him why I felt like I was hitting a wall and struggling. He told me in an audible way, "It is because you haven't forgiven". I didn't understand because i didn't hold grudges, so he reminded me of the person who had sexually abused me when I was a pre-teen.

I told him, "If that is all it is, I forgive him." Then the floodgates opened up.

Even though I didn't have any "visible" unforgiveness, the fact that I did not forgive verbally was actually holding back what God had for me.

I'm reminded that in Jesus example prayer He tells us to pray, "forgive us our sins AS we forgive those that sin against us." After the prayer, He drives the point home with "If you do not forgive men their sins, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:15)

Forgiveness is hard, but the only path to freedom.
